Camp Mitchell 2025
Because Every Kid Deserves Camp

On Friday August 1, 2025, we held the final closing Eucharist for Summer Camp. Overall, it was an incredibly rewarding summer for all involved. Over the course of a few short weeks, Camp welcome over 360 campers, with many volunteers, Leaders-in-Training, Counselors and Directors in addition. As a whole, it was a true demonstration of God’s transformative power.

Our campers have since taken the mountain home with them. We look forward to many repeat visits. We’ve already begun planning our 2026 Summer, so stay tuned.

Set high on Petit Jean Mountain, Camp Mitchell is a place where:

Friendships are real
Screens are off
Faith, nature, and joy come alive

We look forward to welcoming your camper (back) to the mountain.

Camp Mitchell is committed to being an open, safe, brave, and affirming space for all people. All of our programming is designed to be welcoming and affirming, and we strive to create a safe space in all that we do. We understand the value and need for a camp experience specifically for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their loved ones. Somewhere Over Camp is for LGBTQIA+ folks, led by LGBTQIA+ folks (youth, adult individuals, couples, and families.) We welcome your family, chosen and of origin, whom ever they might be. The only requirement is that children and youth must attend with an adult.

Are you interested in supporting Somewhere Over Camp? We will be looking for LGBTQIA+ leadership staff, CITs, and volunteers in addition to financial supporters and in-kind donors. If you would like to get involved, please reach out to andy@campmitchell.org for more information.

July 20 - 25, 2025

DJCC is a week-long summer camp experience for children ages 8-12 who have/had an incarcerated parent or family member. Children from all over the state of Arkansas are invited to participate, for free. This camp is a powerful experience for kids to have fun, learn about themselves, spend time in Creation, meet friends, and try new things. Many participants do not have other opportunities to attend summer camp programs. Dick Johnston Children’s Camp is a chance for kids to just be kids.

Campers registering for Dick Johnston Children’s Camp (DJCC), or graduates of DJCC and Angel Tree campers registering for older youth sessions at Camp Mitchell,  will pay a $20 refundable deposit to register.  This deposit will be returned when the camper arrives to their camp session this summer.   The remainder of the $600 registration fee will be paid by Angel Tree or DJCC.

Please contact Kristi Palmer 501-940-1591 or kristipalmer2016@gmail.com if you’d like to receive information about 2025 DJCC programming.
